Miriam L. (Burket) Henry

Miriam L. (Burket) Henry, 99, of Martinsburg, formerly of Bedford, passed away Feb. 17, 2024, at the Village at Morrisons Cove.

She was born April 25, 1924, in Jacks Corner, daughter of the late Earl S. and Kathryn (Creps) Burket. On July 31, 1948, at the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren, she was united in marriage to Kenneth F. Henry; he preceded her in death April 27, 1995.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Sonya Cuomo (husband, Shawn), Justin Henry, Jenessa Henry, and Jevin Henry; great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Selina Cuomo, Aydan, Evin, and Ava Henry, Sidney Fout, Tirese Gardner, and Caroline Henry; and great-great grandson, Kaydan Henry.

Miriam was preceded in death by her sons, Barry and Brad; great-grandson, Derek; and two brothers.

Miriam was a graduate of Smith School. She completed classes in music directing at Juniata and Manchester Colleges. Miriam owned and operated Deepwood Gallery in Bedford, opening in 1972. She was a caregiver, hospice volunteer, and part of the United Service Organization during World War II. Miriam enjoyed swimming, reading, and collecting Indian pottery.

She was a member of the Yellow Creek Church of the Brethren, where she enjoyed choir and church program directing and was part of the Women’s Fellowship.

At the request of the deceased, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury. Please check the funeral home website for information as it becomes available.
