Local Man to Visit Missions

Ezra G. Bender of Martinsburg, treasurer of the Board of Missions and Charities of the Mennonite Church in North America, left for South America to visit missions, churches and refugee centers established by the denomination.
The Valley Rural Electric Cooperative, marked its 10th anniversary of sending power through its lines. Since the start of the cooperative, lines had been extended over Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Franklin, and Fulton counties. Starting with 306 miles of lines and 590 rural consumers, it increased in 10 years to 1,108 miles of power lines serving 4,7000 consumers.
Mrs. C.N. Ellis, wife of the president of Juniata College, was to present an illustrated lecture on post-war conditions in Europe, for the public at the Williamsburg Church of the Brethren. The Women’s League of Juniata College was sponsoring the event. Dr. and Mrs. Ellis had taken a three month trip through Europe.
