Bull Attacks Man

Herald of Dec. 16, 1948

Ira E. Brumbaugh, aged 75, was saved from death by what onlookers called a “near miracle” Saturday when attacked by a bull at the Morrisons Cove Livestock Market. When the bull attacked Mr. Brumbaugh, he jabbed the fork into his nose, but the animal knocked him back and rendered him unconscious. The screams of Mrs. Charles Mangus, who occupies an apartment at the market and witnessed the attack, distracted the bull until help arrived.

During the past two weeks, Pittsburgh’s NBC television station WDTV has been sending out test patterns at intervals and they have been clearly received in Martinsburg. The Pittsburgh station will be connected to New York by coaxial cable recently laid along the Lincoln Highway. Local television dealer Glenn S. Leidy expects Santa will be delivering television sets to the area.

Seventeen members of the Martinsburg High School Future Homemakers Club inspected the newly decorated house of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Park this week.
