Central's Undefeated Season Ends

The Central Scarlet Dragon Football team faced the Hickory Hornets, the champion from District 10, and sadly came up short of a victory, suffering a 26-13 loss to end their season.

The first half came with multiple interceptions by the Hickory defense, rendering the Dragon offense useless as their scoreboard was left at zero after the first half. On the other hand, one field goal in the first quarter and a touchdown in the second left the Hornets with a 10-point advantage. The Hornets scored again to open the half before the Dragons responded by finally completing a scoring drive with a six-yard touchdown reception by Jack Dunn. The Hornets scored once more in the third, before Hunter Smith completed a one-yard touchdown run early in the fourth. Afterwards, the Hornets kicked one more field goal to top off their score and solidify their victory.

The Dragons rushed for 194 yards, 176 of which came from Smith. The Dragons had a mere 102 passing yards, very short of their status quo, mostly due to a substantial number of injuries in their secondary. Overall, the Dragons had a very successful season, becoming the league champions of the refined Laurel Highlands, four-time district champions and completing a perfect regular season. The Dragons end their fourth consecutive fantastic season with a record of 12-1.
