Farmer Eligible for Club

Herald of Nov. 23, 1923

To E. S. Furry of New Enterprise goes the distinction of being the first Bedford county farmer to be eligible for the Pennsylvania 400 bu. Potato Club. This organization, started last year, has for its membership requirements, the ability to raise 400 or more bushels of potatoes from a measured acre, a requirement not reached by many men.

Miss Alice Lecrone of near Beavertown, entered the Home as a guest last Saturday, and Mr. and Mrs. Showalter, of near Hollidaysburg, moved to that institution Monday. The trustees met in a business session last Thursday when six new members were accepted and four left.

The talk of the road across the mountain from Henrietta to Saxton is still increasing. We would very much like to see this road made a State road. It is a good connecting link between the state highway and the road from Curryville via Martinsburg to Altoona.
