Dragon Football Pulls Ahead in Nail-Biting Victory

Facing one of their toughest opponents yet, the Dragons were happy to return to their home field after their past three away games. Against the Clearfield Bison, some second-half struggles from the Dragons led to a nail-biter in which the Dragons narrowly pulled ahead for a 27-21 victory.

The Dragons received to open the game, moving downfield quickly to score with a four-yard reception by Jack Dunn. The Dragons regained possession and scored once again in the second quarter with another 17-yard reception by Dunn. The Dragons gave up a single score to the Bison before knocking another touchdown in with an 18-yard reception by Jacob Benton with under thirty seconds before halftime. This score gave the Dragons a 21-7 advantage heading into the second half.

The second half did not tell the same story, however. The Bison had two scoring drives in the third quarter, while the Dragon offense was unable to score. Heading into the fourth quarter, the game was tied at 21-21. The Dragon offense mustered a scoring drive that ended with a one-yard run by Hunter Smith, but a missed P.A.T. kick left the Dragons in the danger zone as the Bison regained possession. In the final seconds of the game, Dunn had the fate-sealing interception that ended the Bison's final offensive drive, capping them to their current score to end the game for a Dragon victory.

In the rainy weather, Quarterback Eli Muthler passed for 186 yards, which was over double of their opponent. This game marked Central's homecoming night, where Dunn was crowned King and Delaney Hall was crowned Queen. Now 9-0, the Dragons hope to complete their undefeated regular season with a home match against the Richland Rams for the LHAC conference championship.
