The Hollidaysburg Area Community Partnership (HACP) is looking to promote member businesses through video promotion. A quote was received from Joe Glass for a promo video creation at a base price of $600 for an approximately one-minute video with shots around the town of Hollidaysburg and a voiceover. The base price for a mini documentary-style video that would include a few interviews from people (3-6 minutes long) would be $1,000. He is the videographer who does all the ABCD Corporation First Frontier videos.
Marketing Director Alyssa Barilar would like to visit area businesses and do brief interviews with them and then promote it on social media.
Brittany Brown of “Britt Around the World” specializes in promotion of local areas and has proposed a media kit for the partnership to promote Hollidaysburg businesses. Locally she has worked with Happy Valley Adventure Bureau and the Raystown Lake Region.
The Pumpkin Carving Contest continues to gain participants. Voting will be online. Pictures of the pumpkins will be posted on the HACP Facebook page for voting. Interim President Becki Hollen has met with WTAJ on filming a proposed commercial and is awaiting their cost to move forward.
The Fall Window Decorating Contest has been promoted by the HACP newsletter, and Alyssa Barilar is soliciting as many businesses as possible to encourage their participation. There is also a neighborhood decorating contest, which will run from Oct. 26-31. Homeowners can submit photos by email and they will then be posted on social media. The winner will receive a Visa gift card.
The HACP announced a member mixer at the Mimosa Inn on either Dec. 13 or 14. There are currently 64 active members and a membership promotion will be kicked off at the holiday mixer.
President Bob Gildea is no longer on the board due to a transfer to his new position as superintendent at Lower Dauphin School District. Diane Osgood and Jess Sorge have also left the board. Interim President Becki Hollen stated she would be willing to stay in the presidency role for a year if nobody else is willing to step up.
Former president Tom Kopriva asked if the partnership is partnering with the borough or with the businesses in the downtown. He asked if they were moving in the right direction. He stated the group has made great strides in the past two years, but asked if they were moving too slowly. There was a suggestion that the Borough be more involved in planning goals.
Interim President Becki Hollen invited everyone in attendance to attend the marketing and program development committee meeting held the first Wednesday of every month at the US Hotel.
The Halloween Pub Crawl took place on Saturday, Oct. 21, with numerous bars in Hollidaysburg participating.
The Pumpkinfest on Saturday, Oct. 14, was a strong success.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. at the community room at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library.
