Park Looking for Income

Morrisons Cove Memorial Park officials were looking for ways to generate more income for the park. A cool rainy summer led to reduced income from the pool, and rentals of park facilities were down as well. The board was asking the public to use the park facilities more and donate to the annual fund drive to keep the park open.
The Altoona Water Authority asked their customers in the Hollidaysburg and Freedom Township areas not to drink or otherwise consume tap water due to a “vague” threat made against the water source that supplies those areas. Wal-Mart, Turkey Hill and Sheetz in the East Freedom area stocked extra water for customers because of the restrictions.
Freedom Township Police Officer John W. Reilly Sr. passed away on October 18. Until his death he was the only police chief the Freedom Township Police Department he had ever known. Terry Dellinger was appointed chief after Reilly’s death.
