Thought for the Week

They Are Waiting

I have wrestled with the title. It was either to be what it is or “Are They Waiting?” I have decided to let you put the title on according to what you are doing. The other people involved are your neighbors, friends, and relatives. What they are waiting for is to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and about the Love of God. I assume you know these things and could tell them if you wished. Since I write to a broad spectrum of readers, I assume, for I don’t know, that you could tell them if you would. You see, I am concerned about those who do not know, “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (St. John 3:16) They most certainly cannot believe if they have never heard the Gospel. Someone has to tell them. That someone; is it you or is it I? We talk about what is important to us. We tell what we know to people who are important to us. If you knew a store had a 75% off sale, it is most likely you would tell those you care about. You would want them to reap the benefits of what you know because it would be of benefit to them. I believe, the Bible says, and the Church teaches, ‘When a person reaches, what is called ‘The age of accountability’, some time when they can tell right from wrong, they are lost and condemned if they do not confess their sin(sins) and receive Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord’. Someone (you or I) needs to make them aware. Just as they would be in danger of staying in a building when it is on fire, we must warn them. Once this is done, the responsibility shifts to them. Will they respond to the danger or ignore it. God tells us, who are watchmen, we must warn those in danger or their blood (death) will be our responsibility. Are there people we know who have not heard? Will you tell them? If you know and care about them, it becomes your responsibility. The way you go about it may not be so important. What is important is, “Are you willing to tell (warn) them?” I would suggest you ask God to give you guidance as to how you can best give the warning. God is not willing that anyone should perish (die in their sin). He has given those of us who believe in Him the responsibility to tell others the truth. You may not like what I have said so far, but if you read and study the Bile, you will find it is true. The more you love someone, the more likely you will want them how to be saved. Heaven is so much better than what we are now experiencing. I want to go there. I want those I truly love and care about to go there too. Jesus is ‘The Way’ to get to Heaven. He is the only Way. He said so. (see St. John 14:6) Jesus never lied. He only told the truth. If we know the truth and act properly on that Truth, we can and will go to Heaven. Neither you, nor I, nor anyone else, can fully tell of all the benefits, blessings, and glories that await those who will experience Heaven when it comes in fullness. I want you to know I am praying God’s people will take up the responsibility to share the Gospel. There will be no time to prepare when Jesus Christ returns for His Church. He will gather those who are prepared and are waiting for Him. Those who are not prepared will be left behind. Trains, buses, planes, run on a time schedule. We must be ready or we will be left.
