The Southern Cove Power Reunion meeting was held on Thursday, Oct. 5.
The minutes were read by Club Secretary Melanie Clapper and approved after revision.
Amy Mellott gave the treasurer report and reviewed the fall show's income, expenses and profit.
At the August show, there were 252 tractor hook-ups.
A water hydrant by the pavilion was replaced. A Ford A tractor was purchased for the 2024 tractor raffle and tickets are now available.
Hook ups for the fall show was 141 on Friday and 225 hook ups on Saturday. The equipment had a breakdown and within one hour, the pulling crew was able to replace the broken part and the pulls continued. The crew was acknowledged for its speedy work.
The club was very pleased with the fall show. Parking was done with the assistance of the FFA club.
The Antique Tractor Club of Northern Bedford was praised with the help they gave to the show by keeping trash cans emptied.
Melanie Clapper thanked everyone for donating raffle baskets as there were over 70. Also, the apparel sales went very well, and she had great volunteers who offered to assist.
The gun raffle was also successful as well as the tractor raffle. With this money, the tractor to be raffled next year was purchased.
Equipment dealers attended for the first time this year.. They are expected to return to next year's show.
The vendor/flea market contributed to the profits.
The tractor pullers contributed to the revenue and the club discussed maybe having a special sled brought in for next year's show. This would make the pulls go much faster and most likely in half the time. The club will pursue this option and more information will be given later.
The club kitchen had some new faces that helped and the FFA youth helped.
Some new equipment is needed for the kitchen. Bids have been put out on some such as a grill with hood, fryer and refrigerator. A stove is needed, and one member agreed to donate a stove for kitchen use.
Discussion took place on putting shelves up in the museum building. The board approved purchase of shelves once another bid is brought in. Also, the museum will be categorized and logged of all items. Jason Hileman agreed to oversee this endeavor and will be looking for folks who want to help.
There will be one more show on Oct. 14. Mark Wisecarver will also have an auction on the grounds starting at 9 a.m. People may bring items to be auctioned off to the grounds starting today (Thursday, Oct. 12).
Food will be available in the kitchen all day.
Discussion took place on the light show display which will be the second and third weekend in December on Friday and Saturday evenings. Businesses are urged to place a display. Horse and wagon rides will be available again this year. Information on scheduling a time for a ride online will be given at the next meeting in November. There will be no December meeting.
Cookie bakers are needed for the events and volunteers. Members and their families are encouraged to participate.
