Last week the Central Dragon golf team captured the PIAA District 6 AA Championship with a four stroke victory over St Joseph’s Academy. Griffin Snowberger led the way for the Dragons with a 3 over 75 to place second in the individual championships. Fellow teammate Nick Baum shot a 77 and finished in a tie for third. Zach Oakes carded an 81 (11th) and Cody Clapper a 95 to round out the team score. Bryte Barnes finished with a 96.
With the win, the team advances to the regional tournament to face a District 9 opponent. The regional winner gets a berth to the PIAA team state championship on Oct. 18. With their individual finishes, Snowberger and Baum have advanced to the PIAA individual state championships and will compete in State College on Oct. 16 and 17. Williamsburg’s RJ Royer, like Baum, finished with a 77 and will represent Tyrone High School at the individual state championships.
