In a three-match week, the Lady Dragon Volleyball team faced the Windber Lady Ramblers, the Huntingdon Lady Bearcats, and the Penn Cambria Lady Panthers.

The Dragons were successful against the Ramblers and the Panthers, with 3-0 shutout victories over each. However, a hard fought, five-set battle against the Bearcats left the Dragons falling just short for a 3-2 loss.

Against the Ramblers, the Dragons dominated in just three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-15.

Kaitlyn Weitzel had 13 kills, 15 assists and eight aces throughout the match, while Amber Shad had 17 assists. Alayna Mingle had 12 good digs, while Heather Brumbaugh had four kills and four stuff blocks. Madison Kennedy also had nine good digs and four aces.

Against the Bearcats, the Dragons started off by narrowly pulling ahead with a 25-23 first-set victory. The Dragons lost in the second and third sets 25-16 and 25-23 before bringing the match to a tie with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set. Sadly, the Bearcats pulled ahead in the final set for a 17-15 victory, giving them the overall victory.

Weitzel had 12 kills, 15 assists, 13 good digs, five stuff blocks and two aces throughout the game, which included her 100th career ace. Shade had 15 assists and 13 good digs as well. Brumbaugh had seven kills and six stuff blocks, including the 100th of her career as well. Kennedy had seven kills, while Makenna Kocsis and Kaylee Kensinger had 12 and 10 good digs respectively.

Against the Panthers, the Dragons dominated once again, winning in just three sets with scores of 25-14, 28-26 and 26-24.

Weitzel had 15 kills, 14 assists, seven aces and 15 good digs, while Mingle had 10 good digs. Dessa Boyles had four stuff blocks, Shade had 13 assists, and Kennedy had seven kills.

This brings the Dragons’ record to 3-5, while they prepare to face the Bishop Carroll Lady Huskies and the North Star Lady Cougars in the upcoming week.
