Roaring Spring ARCH will have a guest on Oct. 7, 2023, at 7 p.m. Be sure to invite those affiliated with prison ministry, families of addicted loved ones, or those caught in addictions with a possible history of crime.
Pastor Jim Law is the Director of Prison Ministry for Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, La. He is also the founder and Senior Pastor of Light of Hope Community Church and founder of Second Chance Prison Ministries in Dauphin, Pa., for 25 years.
Law was raised in a home environment of turmoil. With the pain of insecurity, he turned to alcohol and drugs for relief at an early age. Eventually, drug abuse led him to a life of crime and 11 years in prison. His mother passed away while he was serving his term. This tragedy brought him to the cross of Calvery.
In the midst of the worst uprising in PA history at SCI Camp Hill, Law ministered to hundreds of other inmates: praying with them, consoling them, quieting their fears, and helping clothe inmates who barely had any clothes.
In Pennsylvania, Law served as the president and founder of Second Chance Ministries International, a statewide prison ministry. He is the founder and senior pastor at Light of Hope Community Church, co-founder of the Pennsylvania Ministers Association, taught and helped to establish numerous schools of ministry in Pennsylvania. These schools licensed and ordained over 600 men and women from 2000-2009.
He has hosted a radio program — Prison Talk — for ten years, is an author, a mentor, life coach, gifted bible teacher, and an in-demand motivational speaker.
Law has spoken in high schools sharing the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. Law and his wife Doris continue to serve God as the Prison Ministry Director for Family Worship Center Church and Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in Louisiana and throughout the United States.
His first book entitled “Rebellion of Righteousness: Hope for the Next Generation,” draws on his experiences as a convicted drug dealer and career criminal whose life was radically changed by God while serving in prison. The book is based on his own personal life experiences, street education, spiritual renewal and biblical knowledge.
