Lockdown Held for Youth

Herald of Sept. 17, 1998

Memorial Park was holding a lockdown for youth over the weekend. The event was open to students from Spring Cove, Northern Bedford, Williamsburg, Claysburg-Kimmel and Tussey Mountain school districts. Activities, including bowling and volleyball, were planned for 11 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday. Students were required to have a permission slip signed by a parent to participate.

The Spring Cove School Board held a special meeting to formally hire Mrs. Lorraine Stephens as choral director at Central High School and as general music instructor to the Roaring Spring Elementary School.

The Martinsburg Water Authority was looking for a suitable location for a new well to support a proposed tomato greenhouse in Huston Township. The Authority received a check for $5,400 from the United States Produce Company to cover the expenses of work being done by the hydrogeologists to find potential sites.
