Hollidaysburg School District Superintendent Dr. Robert Gildea is looking to move to the open superintendent position at Lower Dauphin School District.
Gildea has guided the Hollidaysburg school district for the past 10 years since July 2013. Gildea has been with the Hollidaysburg district for 23 years. He has served as a teacher, coach, principal and athletic director. Gildea has been a resident of Hollidaysburg Borough all of his life.
He gained his doctorate degree prior to becoming superintendent. In 2013, he began as superintendent at $115,000 salary and currently stands at $140,334 per year.
The decision to hire Gildea at Lower Dauphin will likely be finalized at their board meeting called for Monday night, Aug. 28. Lower Dauphin will be looking to hire Gildea at a salary of $190,000. Gildea anticipates to start before Nov. 27. He will be on a five-year contract going through June 2028.
Lower Dauphin has been utilizing an interim superintendent since June of this year. If approved as expected, Hollidaysburg school district will immediately begin their search for a permanent superintendent, using an interim superintendent in the meantime. Gildea has guided the district through numerous changes in the past decade.
