Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
On Aug. 20, Woodbury United Methodist Church held the last ice cream festival for the summer at the Woodbury Community Center. This was the third one for the summer and it was attended well. Pastor Josh Tobias stated they have about 100 folks turn out for each event and this one was no exception.
Ritchey's Ice Cream was served with many toppings including sprinkles. The children enjoyed the ice cream but perhaps they enjoyed the fun associated with a bubble machine and making large bubbles from buckets of mixture with string wands (shown).
This kid-friendly church has a fall ministry they are getting ready to kick off for kids in kindergarten to 12th grade. During this event, the church had a back-to-school program and reported having 39 children attend camp this year at Camp Greene Hills. Pastor Tobias explained that 19 kids made their first commitment to God while at camp.
This church gives back to the community in many ways. They planned to participate in the Prayer walk at Northern Bedford School on Aug. 22. This event has grown and they had activities for children such as drawing with chalk outside the doors.
The church has a new group making teddy bears for children in need. They also made activity bags with school supplies included.
This church has a multi-generational choir for those who enjoy singing. Find them on Facebook at faithumcwoodbury.org. Call the church office with any questions at (814) 766-3742.
