Page 4 of the 10 August 2023 Herald carried a stunning contrast in attitudes a century apart of those living in or visiting Morrisons Cove. First, I read Chris Garretson’s opinion piece, “The Label Isn’t Always Accurate.” I don’t know Garretson but I can accept his view that most people of the Cove, labeled or not, respect each other, “are friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand.” How shocking then, in this era of political separation, to read the account under the “100 Years Ago” remembrances down the page.
