The Rodney Metzler family was celebrating the 100th anniversary of their farm. Rodney and Gretchen Metzler are the fourth generation to own the farm. Abram Metzler, a Mennonite preacher, moved to the Martinsburg area in 1898 and purchased the farm to support his family of eight.

Clyde G. Lynn, owner of Lynn’s Family Restaurant in East Freedom died from injuries received after falling from the roof of the restaurant. Mr. Lynn was transported by emergency helicopter to Conemaugh Hospital where he later died. He was 63.
