NB Alum to be Inducted into Bedford County Sports Hall of Fame

The Bedford County Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2023 induction class.

The induction ceremony will be on Saturday, June 24, at the Everett High School Auditorium. The teams will be inducted starting at 1 p.m. in the first ceremony, while the individuals will be inducted starting at 4 p.m. and that ceremony is scheduled to end around 6 p.m.

One ticket for the induction is good for both halves of the program.

This year’s individual inductees are:

• Brian Sell, a Northern Bedford football, wrestling, and track and field athlete who went on to star at Messiah College and St. Francis University before qualifying for the Olympics in the marathon in 2008

• Terri Beegle, a Bedford basketball, softball, and volleyball player who played basketball and softball at Lock Haven University

• Ron Koppenhaver, a long-time referee in softball, basketball, and football, who is one of the few people to ever referee a PIAA state championship in 3 sports

• Jeff Baer, a Chestnut Ridge football player, who went on to play football at Northwestern University

• Beth Burkett, a Chestnut Ridge track and field athlete, who was the state runner-up twice in the javelin at the PIAA state championships and threw the javelin at the University of Kentucky, where she was a 2-time SEC placewinner

• Jamie Eichelberger, an Everett football and baseball player, who was the Associated Press Small School Football Player of the Year and went on to be a PSAC All-Star in baseball at Shippensburg

• Tracey Smith, a golfer from Everett who is one of the top local golfers in this area

• Lindsay Baker, a Tussey Mountain basketball and track and field athlete, who was a basketball player at Tussey Mountain with 2,144 career points and at UPJ, where she was a 2002 Honorable Mention Kodak All-American and 2002 Second Team Daktronics All-American

The teams that are being honored are:

• The 1984 Bedford High School Baseball Team

• The 1984 Bedford American Legion Baseball Team

• The 1966 Everett Football Team

• The 1964 Hyndman Basketball Team
