Martinsburg Library Updates on Recent Improvements

There has been a lot going on at the Martinsburg Community Library recently.

The library's 75th Anniversary Celebration was held on Saturday, April 29. There was a great turnout, and fun was had by all! Thank you to all who came out to celebrate our first 75 years.

A sign featuring the library's new logo was placed on the front of the building. A big thank you to the Friends of the Martinsburg Community Library for paying for the beautiful new sign, Bryan Melius at Cove Printing and Design for designing the logo, and Trevor Forshey and crew from Curry Designs for the making and installation of the sign.

A new after-hours book drop was also placed in front of the building. This book drop was purchased with the generous donation received from the estate of the late Gene Henry. The library staff would like to remind patrons that this drop is for times when the library is closed, and during open hours, books should be returned inside. This ensures your books are checked in promptly, as the book drop is emptied once a day, prior to the library opening.

The library has also added more comfortable seating throughout the indoor space, particularly near our coffee bar.

The library recently received three quilts to raffle. These quilts were put together in memory of the late Susan Diethrich, a long-time volunteer at the library. The quilts used pieces of material that were found in Susan's "material stash" and were pieced, quilted, and donated by her long-time quilting friends Nancy Ashman, Elaine Delozier, Libby Goulionis, Susie Nagle, and Joanne Stern. These raffles will take place in the future, so stay tuned for information on when and how to purchase tickets for these beautiful pieces.

The library is looking forward to a few more changes, as well. For those changes to happen, the library will be closed July 10-15. The children's, juvenile, and young adult areas will be unusable beginning Friday, July 7, to prepare for these upgrades. During this time, part of the library will be receiving a fresh coat of paint, and shelving in the juvenile area will be replaced and rearranged. Our hope is that these changes will make the library both more inviting and user friendly.

Stop by and see all the wonderful things the Martinsburg Community Library has to offer.
