CACT Performs Clue

Claysburg Area Community Theater presented Clue on Friday, June 16, and Saturday, June 17, at the Claysburg-Kimmel High School auditorium.

Director Maria Leppert said that the show is based off of the Parker Brothers board game. Viewers had to try to figure out who was the murderer as the bodies piled up.

She said that the audience got a lot of laughs and they were able to use their detective minds to figure out who did it.

"I think that it is important to keep the arts alive because it keeps the imagination going," Leppert said. "Many people lose that as they get older. It is a vital part. It keeps people happy. It makes people think about things. It makes you happy and sad. I really think art is really important. I think theatre is very important. It is great entertainment. You leave yourself for an hour or two depending on what you are watching. You can just be in the moment of the story."

Doug Ebersole, who played Mr. Green, said that he has always liked "Clue: The Movie" and he has played the board game almost his entire life.

"In general, I like mysteries," Ebersole said. "This is a mystery and a comedy and that is what piqued my interest as far as the show goes."

He added that he thought the audience was going to come and view it definitely as a murder mystery. Part of the experience is to try to figure out who did it and who the criminals are. He said that it obviously has comedy, too.

"I think that they're going to be interested to see the outcome of the play and who did it," Ebersole said.

He added that this is different from what they have done here in the past in Claysburg.

Caleb Knisely, who played the butler, said that he has also always enjoyed the game and has seen the movie as well. He said that his part is an interesting one and he has really enjoyed it.

He added that he thinks that the audience hopefully took away a lot of laughter and had a good evening.

"Hopefully, the audience enjoys the performance and we will all break our legs," Knisely said before the performance.
