Martinsburg
George H. Bridenbaugh, 99, of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday evening, June 11, 2023, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.
He was born June 10, 1924, in Martinsburg, son of the late George Herbert and Gertrude R. (Miller) Bridenbaugh. On July 8, 1945, he married Lila H. Asper in California. She preceded him in death Feb. 25, 2013, following 67 years of marriage.
He is survived by three children: Connie M. Fry (Ken) of Martinsburg, G. Alan Bridenbaugh (Lona) of Hanover and Nina L. Bridenbaugh of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother Robert P. Bridenbaugh of Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Nevin C. and Edwin B. Bridenbaugh; and a sister, Mary Jane Hinish.
George was a graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry from Juniata College, Huntingdon. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during WW II and a lifelong dairy farmer in rural Martinsburg.
He was a longtime, faithful member of Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon. George also served on the Board of Directors for Everett Cash Mutual and the Martinsburg Fairview Cemetery Association and was a past president and treasurer of the Pennsylvania Holstein Association.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2023. at Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, where a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Mr. Eric Martin will be officiating. Private interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
