Committee to Make Plans

A committee met to make plans to observe the Fourth of July in Martinsburg. Roy O. Clabuagh was named president, Albert H. Stoner, secretary , and J. W. Mentzer, treasurer. It was decided to hold an old fashioned basket picnic in the Snyder Grove. A parade was also planned, and all organizations of the community were to be invited to participate. Edward H. Lytle was named Grand Marshal of the parade.

A violent windstorm downed trees in the Martinsburg area on June 9. Nineteen trees were uprooted in Snyder’s Grove and several more were thrown down at the nearby Industria...
