Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
And just like that, a year has passed!
Though the Herald’s anniversary of moving to Morrisons Cove Memorial Park was in May, June 1 is the day we officially cut the ribbon at our new location.
In our first year here, we have enjoyed the joyful sounds of children at the park, welcomed many walkers-by into our office and settled into our new space.
Our only complaint: squirrels are chewing wires and messing with our internet. Worth it.

Judy Ward; Chamber President Joe Hurd; Chamber Ambassador Bonnie Hand; (back row, from left) Herald Composing Manager Dessie Carpenter; former Herald Intern Duncan Weigand; former Herald Publisher’s Assistant Lugene Shelly (now circulation manager); Herald Staff Writer Rick Boston; former Herald Circulation Manager Pam Michaels; Herald Bookkeeper Martin Bakner; and Herald Photographer Gary Baranec.
The Herald staff thanks everyone who has taken the time to visit us in our new office, and we can’t wait to continue to meet the good citizens of the Cove!
If you are having trouble finding the Herald office, look out for our banner. We also have a drop box along S. Walnut Street. The office is between the Martinsburg Community Library and the Acorn Cove Playground.
