Lady Dragon Softball Dominates Opponents

Junior Madison Kennedy Slams 100th Career Hit

Bouncing back from the Bald Eagle loss, the Lady Dragons pounded their opponents this week, finding victories of 12-1, 6-0 and 13-1 over the Richland Lady Rams, the Phillipsburg-Osceola Lady Mountaineers and the Altoona Lady Mountain Lions respectively.

Against the Rams, the game remained at a low score for a majority of the start of the game. The Dragons scored one in the third, followed by two in the fifth and one more in the sixth. In the seventh, however, the Dragons exploded with eight runs while only giving up one to the Rams. Winning pitcher Madison Kennedy gave up a mere three hits, walking only one with three strikeouts. On the offensive side, she had four hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs. Lexie Fetzer had three hits and three RBIs as well, while Lacey Lynn had a double that drove in two runs.

In the shutout victory against the Mountaineers, the Dragon offense was perfectly balanced: scoring three in the first inning and three in the final inning. Lynn hit a two-run home run at bat, and pitching only allowed two hits, striking out 12. Kennedy had two hits, including the 100th of her career. Fetzer and Aubrey Rhodes each had two hits, while Kennedy Hoyt had two RBIs.

Against the Mountain Lions, the Dragons absolutely exploded in the first inning, scoring ten right off the bat. Things then slowed down, with the Dragons scoring one in the second and two in the fourth for the mercy-rule victory. Winning pitcher Lynn had three hits, including the 100th of her career as well. Kennedy had three hits and pitched four relief innings, only giving up two hits. Fetzer had two hits, including a home run and four RBIs, while Ashlynn Renner had a home run herself.

The 16-3 Lady Dragons have a sole game remaining this week against the Central Cambria Lady Red Devils before the start of playoffs.
