Company Discusses Plans
Herald of May 28, 1998
A representative from the United States Produce Company met with the Martinsburg Municipal Authority and Huston Township supervisors to discuss the possibility of locating 30 acres of greenhouses in Huston Township for the purpose of growing tomatoes year round. The facility would require an enormous amount of water, more than 200,000 gallons a day, almost double the current use. The municipal authority would need to make numerous upgrades to meet the demand.
Pamela Roub was named executive director of Olde Bedford Village, succeeding Robert K. Sweet who is retiring.
Joe Sanders and Niki Horton were crowned king and queen of the Central High prom.
The Martinsburg fire company was called to the Blair County Airport to extinguish a vehicle fire in the airport restaurant’s parking lot. The vehicle was heavily damaged under the hood and in the dashboard area. The cause was believed to be electrical.
