A thrilling pitching duel between Martinsburg’s Bill Lehman and Williamsburg’s Lynn Hoffner topped last Saturday’s opening games for the 1948 Blair League season. Martinsburg got two hits from Hoffner early in the game and held a 1-0 lead until the last of the ninth, when Bobby Smith turned in the winning drive to end the game 2-0 for Williamsburg. Lehman pitched a no hit, no run game until the end of the ninth.
