Central Volleyball traveled to West Shamokin and lost 0-3 by scores of 10-25, 12-25, 10-25. Christian Cherry had two kills, Logan Hummel had six assists, and Bryson Brooks had four service points.
On Thursday of last week, the team traveled to Forest Hills and lost in three sets 10-25, 14-25, 8-25. Bryson Brooks led Central with three kills, Christian Heuston had five digs and two blocks, Wyatt Holsinger had four service points, and Logan Hummel had nine assists and five digs.
Saturday, April 1, Central competed in the Derry Invitational tournament. In the morning pool, Central lost to Derry 9-15, 15-17, and North Allegheny 5-15, 6-15. In the afternoon pool, Central lost to Altoona 11-25, 18-25, West Shamokin 11-25, 20-25, and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 19-25, 10-25. The team fell in a play-in match to Meadville 8-25.
Central was led by Christian Cherry’s seven kills and 16 digs, Logan Hummel had 21 assists, Bryson Brooks had four kills and 16 digs, and Christian Heuston added 17 digs and three kills.
“Overall, a bit of a rough week for our young team,” Coach Ken Steilein said. “We are still struggling to find consistency, which is not unusual for newer players. We have definitely seen signs of improvement and we just need to continue with the learning process. I see a bright future for these guys, we just have to take some lumps along the way.”
