Social Gathering Enjoyed

A very pleasant social gathering was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Brumbaugh on Saturday evening, the event being in honor of Mr. Brumbaugh’s birthday. It was to be a complete surprise, but its success was somewhat questionable. But we are quite sure it was successful from a social standpoint, and decidedly so when the refreshments were served; ice cream, cakes and coffee in abundance.
Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock fire destroyed the large garage of E. H. & B. Claar, of East Freedom, together with their electric light and power plant, a large barn, several smaller buildings and the barn of Howard Burket on the adjoining lot. Also lost was almost two car loads of roofing material, window sashes and doors. The power plant was installed three or four years earlier to furnish light for the people of the town and power for the machinery in the planing mill of the firm
