Memorial Service Planned

A memorial service is planned for Sgt. John F. Wilson, who died of wounds received on March 26, 1945 in Iwo Jima. He was the son of John W. and Mrs. Annie (Forgy) Wilson of Williamsburg RD. He served in the Air Corps with the 72nd Fighter Squadron and attained the rank of sergeant. His remains recently arrived in Williamsburg for burial.

The Martinsburg Community Library will formally open this weekend for use by all residents of the Cove. The library will be open 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday, with a brief ceremony planned for 9 o’clock. Saturday afternoon, the first of the weekly story hours for children will be held.

Miss Shirley Jean Hall will be crowned Queen of the May in ceremonies held at Spring Park in Roaring Spring. She is a senior at Roaring Spring High School and co-editor of the high school paper Reflections. John Green, president of the student council will crown the queen.
