Meeting Called to Help Cuba

In accordance with the appeal sent out by the “Christian Herald” of New York, a meeting is called in the interest of the distressed and starving Cubans, in the Lutheran church on Sunday afternoon. At this meeting it is to be considered how much relief Martinsburg and vicinity will contribute to those starving on the island of Cuba.
Messrs. Howard Nicodemus and Fred Miller left on Monday evening for the West. The former has accepted a position with the Bloom Cattle Co., in New Mexico and the latter will go to Denver Colorado.
On Friday the House considered the post office bill. On Monday the house passed the bill granting relief to Maine disaster survivors. The senate did nothing important.
Frankstown township is threatened with a $15,000 damage suit for the loss of life of Adolphus Clapper who fell off a township bridge to his death. The bridge was not protected by guard rails.
