Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
The Cove Community Theater performed "A Murder at the Fire House" at Breezewood Firehall on March 4 and 5. The murder mystery was set within a fire company.
The play
This event started out with a musical production from Flint Chandler, the fire chief who was always known as a ladies man. He made his way around the room, flirting with the women and leaving a phone number with them.
A murder took place and the janitor bounded into the room falling on the floor and yelling.
The victim in this performance was Cinder Flynn. She had been with the fictional fire company for many years. She began as a junior firefighter when her father was the fire chief years ago. Generally friendly with most of them, her attitude at times and the fact that she took no blame when she did something wrong, created a lot of tension within the fire company.
Each character said something about the deceased and the audience listened closely and tried to figure out who was the murderer.
The murdered victim and the crime scene (shown right) were viewed by each attendee looking for clues.
The suspense continued and the audience was active in looking for murder weapons, reviewing police files and asking the players questions.
This play was very interactive and kept those in attendance laughing the entire play.
Eventually, attendees were able to turn in their findings and nine folks figured out the murderer.
A drawing was done and one participant took home a set of theater tickets for another show.
The event on March 4 featured 125 attendees. The same amount of food was prepared for the matinee the next day. The dinner was organized and prepared by Donna Bryant and volunteers of the Breezewood Fire Company. Folks were very impressed with the meal served.
