Young Boy Dies in Fire

Five-year-old Joseph Allen “Joey” Amick perished in a fire that swept his home Saturday. His remains were found in the smoldering rubble of an apartment building in New Enterprise. Three Martinsburg firemen were burned when shifting winds blew flames over them. Two were treated by a physician.

Within a period of six months, All American Aviation Inc., plans to inaugurate two morning and two afternoon flights east and west at the Blair County Airport. The Civil Aeronautics Board granted a permit to the company to carry passengers, mail and express.

George Deeter, aged 72, of Curryville, died from injuries sustained when the truck he was riding in collided with a trolley car in South Lakemont. Icy conditions were blamed for the truck not being able to stop at a stop sign.

Among several hundred medical, veterinarian and dental students, Harry Anson Suter of New Enterprise received the degree of veterinary medical doctor from the University of Pennsylvania.
