Ronald G. Leidy

Ronald G. Leidy, 86, of Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 21, 2023, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.

He was born March 11, 1936, in Martinsburg, son of the late Glenn S. and Ruth Arlene (Teeter) Leidy. He married Janet Arlene Loose Nov. 25, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She preceded him in death May 2, 2021 after 63 years of marriage.

He is survived by four children: Lawr B. Leidy of Huntingdon, Mary Lois Phelps (Chuck) of Williamsburg, Virginia G. Roberts (Douglas) of Loretto, and Marshall R. Leidy (Karlin Bellew) of Williamsburg. 10 grandchildren: Anaya Leidy, Lindsey Phelps, Caitlin Davis, Douglas Roberts, Emily Roberts, Sarah Roberts, Daniel Roberts, Brandon Leidy, Bennett Leidy, and Bergen Leidy. six great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Easton, Rosalyn, Luke, Macklin, and Andy. He is also survived by three siblings: William D. Leidy of Williamsburg, Elinor R. Gerhart of New Castle DE., and Gerald T. “Book” Leidy of Martinsburg.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Robert R. Leidy, Richard F. ”Dick” Leidy, JoAnne Love, and Sharon K. Long; and his special grandparents Frank and Mamie Teeter.

Ronald was a graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg and Penn State University where he earned a degree in Education. He retired in 2000 from the Spring Cove School District as a science and agricultural science teacher with 40.5 years of service. When Ronald was not teaching he worked his farm and operated the Leidy Greenhouse with his brother Bill.

Ronald was a faithful member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, Williamsburg. He enjoyed farming and raising chickens, a hobby which he started at a very young age. He had a passion for gardening and planting flowers. When he was not outside working in the field or the greenhouse, Ronald was reading a good book. Ronald’s greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received from 10am to noon,

A funeral took place Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at Fairview Church of the Brethren, rural Williamsburg. Pastor Alan Brumbaugh officiated. Private interment was held at Diehl’s Crossroads Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
