Roaring Spring
Robert W. Lape Jr., 66, of Roaring Spring, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, at Homewood at Martinsburg after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 7, 1956, in Somerset, the son of Robert W. Lape Sr. and the late Ruth L. (Walker) Lape.
He is survived by his father, of Roaring Spring; three children: Robert W. Lape III and his wife, Kristi; Amy Cooper and her husband, Chris; and Emily Tyler and her husband, Joe, all of Roaring Spring; six grandchildren: Robert W. Lape IV, Natalie Lape, Mya Diehl, Garrett Cooper, Celia Tyler and Katelyn Tyler; and three sisters: Cathy Glass and her husband, Allen, of Duncansville; Becky Brumbaugh and her husband, Don, of James Creek; and Liz Dauberman and her husband, Jim, of Mineral, Va.
Robert was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring.
He was a 1974 graduate of Central High School, a 1977 graduate of University of Pittsburgh Johnstown with his bachelor’s degree, and a 1980 graduate of University of Pitt Law School with his Juris Doctorate Degree.
Robert operated his own law practice in Roaring Spring from 1980 until 2018. He had also been employed as a juvenile master and a law clerk at the Blair County Courthouse.
Bob enjoyed going to music concerts, sports – especially Central Dragon, Penn State, Pittsburgh Steelers Football and Pirate Baseball. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and boating, and he especially loved spending time with his family.
Bob was active in his community through the Rotary Club, coaching and umpiring youth sports, teaching Sunday school, coaching Mock Trial. He was also a strong supporter of the local deaf community.
A funeral service as held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at First Church of Brethren, Roaring Spring. Pastor Dave Crumrine officiated. Interment was made in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roaring Spring.
