Volunteers Restore Home

Herald of March 12, 1998

A van load of volunteers from the Salem United Church of Christ, Beavertown, is spending this week at Greenup Ky., working to restore a home that was badly flooded last year. Veteran disaster volunteer C. Sherman Dick will head the crew. Joining Mr. Dick will be Betty Royer, John Favinger and his daughter Rita; Janet Brumbaugh and her daughter Beth; and Wayne Crisswell.

The phone number for the Roaring Spring Police department was omitted from the telephone book, and residents were having trouble contacting the department. Chief Steven Hamilton asked that a message with the phone number to be added to the water and sewer bills. The number appearing in the directory was for the fax machine.

The Williamsburg Lady Pirates was the only local team to advance in the PIAA basketball playoffs. The Northern Bedford boys fell in the second round to Kennedy Christian, and both Central teams were eliminated in the first-round match ups.
