Lady Dragons Fall in Nail-Biters

With the end of the season at hand, the Lady Dragons fell to both of their opponents this week: the Central Cambria Lady Red Devils and the Johnstown Lady Trojans with tight scores of 71-65 and 61-57 respectively.

Against the Red Devils, the Lady Dragons held to a close offensive game throughout the night. Trailing by a mere eight after the first quarter, the Dragons were able to drop it to six by half with a 34-28 score. The Dragons were able to cut the lead even shorter in the third, but stumbled in the fourth, and despite the outstanding offensive efforts, trailed in the final minutes. MacKenzie Rhykerd led with a game high 18 points, while Megan Diehl was close behind with 17. Bralyn Ellis added 10 in the offensive effort as well.

A low-scoring JV game left the Dragons with a loss as well: 30-26. High scorer was Dessa Boyles with eight points.

Against the Trojans, the Dragons held to another very tight game, leading by one early on before trailing 28-22 at half. The Dragons matched the Trojans offensively in the third, and outscored by only two in the fourth, falling just short of a victory. Diehl and Ellis brought the high-speed offense for the Dragons, scoring 21 and 14 respectively.

The JV team also fell to the Trojans, 37-34. High scorer was Kaylee Keith with eight points.

Sitting at 5-16, the Dragons have a sole game remaining against the Bedford Lady Bisons before the end of the season.
