The three escapees from the Huntingdon State Correctional Institution who forced a Martinsburg area man to haul them to Philadelphia are again behind bars. Two were captured in Camden, N. J. and the other was found in Deptford Township, N. J.
Washington’s Birthday was being observed on Monday, February 19, due to the new Monday Holiday Law. Washington’s birthday was traditionally observed on February 22.
The Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission authorized the Pennsylvania Electric Company’s request to phase out its Williamsburg station. The company investigated the possibility of revamping the facility to meet state regulations regarding air and thermal pollution abatement, but found the cost of complying was not justified due to the age and size of the generating units.
The Rev. George H. Snyder, a native of Altoona, was installed as pastor of the Upper and Lower Claar Churches of the Brethren near Claysburg.
