The Bulldog Winter Battle volleyball league concluded its second week of matches on Sunday night. Claysburg’s first opponent of the evening was Juniata Valley. The Lady Bulldogs maintained a narrow lead for their first two sets. Claysburg won by two for the first set, with 25-23 as the final score. Per the league’s rules, by reaching 27 points, the Lady Bulldogs won their second set, 27-26, as Juniata Valley trailed behind. However, Claysburg struggled during the third set, losing 17-25, with the Hornets pulling ahead by 8 points.
During the night’s second match, spectators saw Claysburg face off against Northern Bedford. The first set was close, with the Lady Bulldogs emerging victorious 27-25. They kept that momentum going into the second set and maintained a lead of 11 points, beating the Panthers 25-14. For the third set, the Lady Bulldogs lost 19-25 as the Panthers worked hard to overcome their previous losses.
Despite losing their final sets to both teams, Claysburg won both matches overall. Next Sunday, the Lady Bulldogs will play Huntingdon and compete once more against Juniata Valley.
