Lingenfelter Hits 1,000 Milestone; Dragon Basketball Still Undefeated

The Central Dragon Basketball team had their hands full with three games throughout the week against capable opponents. The Dragons prevailed against the Forest Hills Rangers, the Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers and the Bishop McCourt Crushers. The Dragons seized victories of 72-56, 66-50 and 70-59, respectively.

Against the Rangers, the Dragons had a lively first half to push to a 43-25 halftime lead. However, the Dragons slipped up a touch in the third quarter, allowing their lead to diminish to a mere 10. The Dragons brought it back in the fourth quarter to finish with a monumental lead in the end. Eli Lingenfelter led with 26 points, while Seth Bean added 20 including four three-pointers. Rylan Daugherty added 16 as well for the Dragons' victory.

The JV team suffered a loss, however. After having a small lead in the second half, a 45-43 loss befell them. Robert Long-Yarrison and Mason Byler each had 13 points as high scorers.

Trailing after the first quarter to the Hilltoppers, the Dragons impressively outscored them 19-5 in the second to take a 34-24 halftime lead. The Dragons kept their lead throughout the second half to end the match with another victory. Lingenfelter led with 30 points, while Eli Muthler and Bean added 14 and 10, respectively.

The JV team barely finished with a win, using a foul shot to take a 44-43 lead at the very end. High scorer was Nick Garver with 12 points.

Within the opening minutes of the game against the Crushers, Lingenfelter scored his 1,000th career point. The Dragons trailed after the first by one, but came back to lead the half with a score of 32-27. Their lead continued throughout the second half to end the night staying undefeated. Lingenfelter finished the night with 28 points, while Bean added 17 and Daugherty had 12. A low scoring JV game left the Dragons with a 31-25 win. High scorer was Garver with nine.

Still undefeated, the Dragons will face the only other undefeated team on the schedule left: the Penn Cambria Panthers, as well as the Somerset Eagles in the upcoming week.
