Margaret J. "Peg" Russell

Margaret J. “Peg” Russell, 86, of Martinsburg, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 12, 2023, at Homewood at Martinsburg.

She was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Altoona, daughter of the late Blair Edgar and Margery J. (Keller) Wilt.  On June 9, 1956, she married Clyde E. Russell at the Foot of Ten Bible Church in Duncansville.  He preceded her in death April 21, 2006, following 49 years of marriage.

She is survived by a son, Scott E. Russell (Connie) of Duncansville; two daughters: Bonnie L. Diehl (Craig) of Roaring Spring and Holly M. Tekely (Mick) of Williamsburg; three grandchildren: Jason Russell, Gavin Diehl (Lindsey), Brad Diehl (Karlee); six great-grandchildren: Talan, Chandler, Beckett, Jaxson, Sadie and Kasey Diehl; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steve A. Russell; two brothers: James Robert Wilt and Edgar Blair Wilt; and three sisters: Camille McCreight, Mary E. Irvin and Dorothy Jane Wilt.

Peg was a 1954 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Martinsburg. 

She was primarily a homemaker, who loved spending time with her family and also raising and showing Shetland Sheepdogs.

A private funeral service will be held at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr. officiating.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
