Nason Plans to Challenge

Nason Hospital was planning to challenge a decision by the Blair County Board of Commissioners to place the hospital on the property tax rolls. Both Nason and Tyrone hospitals were asked to make payments in lieu of real estate taxes, but the hospitals argued they were exempted by the state as charitable institutions.

Martinsburg Borough Council learned that asbestos removal at the old Benson school would cost $9,566. The roof also contained asbestos, but it would be removed in a separate job. Council was also advertising for the demolition of the building.

John Brady and Steven Metzger, Mid-State Bank vice-presidents, spoke to Samuel Metzger’s Central High School consumer math class about personal finance. They spoke about budgeting, credit, and saving money for future needs.

The auction of surplus equipment grossed $4,471 for the Spring Cove School District.
