Throughout the week, the Lady Dragons came incredibly close to victory, but fell just short in both their matches against the Richland Lady Rams as well as the Central Cambria Lady Red Devils with scores of 54-51 and 44-43.
A quick first half for the Dragons ended with them in an 8-point deficit to the Rams. After the third quarter, that deficit lengthened to 11. The Dragons nearly made an astounding comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring 22 over the Rams’ 14, but couldn’t overcome the last three points. MacKenzie Rhykerd, Megan Diehl, and Morgan Knepp each scored 12 for the Dragons in the losing effort.
The Dragon JV team found resounding success, however, with a 49-21 victory. High scorer was Marah Dickson with nine points.
Despite trailing by 10 to the Red Devils at half due to a lackluster second quarter, the Dragons were very much still in the game. Even though the Dragons outscored their opponents 30-21 in the second half, the game came down to two free throws that would give the Dragons a chance to tie. However, a missed shot sealed the Dragons’ demise. Elana Decker led with 14 points, while Bralyn Ellis added 11 throughout the game.
The JV team fell short as well against the Red Devils, losing 40-36. High scorer was Dickson with 13 points.
Dropping to 1-5, the Dragons will now face the Bellwood Antis Lady Blue Devils in a holiday tournament.
