Dragons Remain Undefeated

The Central Dragon Basketball team stays undefeated this week heading into the Christmas break, a great feat for any basketball team. A 52-34 victory over the Richland Rams and 56-32 win over the Central Cambria Red Devils propels the Dragons to a 5-0 record.

Against the Rams, the Dragons edged out a slight lead after the first quarter, but completely shutout the Richland offense in the second quarter. Keeping them at zero points in the second quarter, the Dragons took a 27-10 halftime lead. The Dragons’ balanced attack between offense and defense continued throughout the entirety of the second half, leading to the Rams’ utter defeat. Rylan Daugherty led with 17 points, followed closely by Eli Lingenfelter with 16. Seth Bean tacked on 12 as well to round out the Dragon offense. The Central JV team was not so fortunate, however, taking a 41-36 loss after struggling in the first half. High scorer was Mason Byler with 21 points.

Differ to the norm, the Dragons exploded in the first half against the Red Devils, jumping to a 44-16 halftime lead. Despite a less-than-stellar second half showing, the Dragon defense didn’t budge, and led to the Dragon victory. Bean led with 14, followed by Lingenfelter with 13. Daugherty added 10 as well in the Dragon victory. The JV team dominated the court as well against the Red Devils, seizing a 44-25 victory. High scorer was Robert Long-Yarison with 11.

Hoping to continue the winning streak, the Dragons will compete in the “Restore the Roar Holiday Classic” at Hollidaysburg to face the Altoona Mountain Lions and the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers.
