Catharine Passes Budget; Millage Increases

During its meeting, rescheduled for last Thursday, Dec. 22, Catharine Township Supervisors passed the 2023 budget, with another increase in the millage. Chairman Heather Flaig made the motion to adopt the budget with Ken Brenneman seconding. The motion passed.

A complaint was made about a property in the Edgewood Drive section of Catharine Township about junk cars. Flaig made mention that following a drive-by inspection of the property there were “a lot of vehicles” on the property. Flaig made a motion to send a letter to homeowners regarding the ordinance. The motion passed.

Township officials have been talking about a sign out front of the building designating the township building. Supervisors joked that when they usually tell someone where the township building is that they just tell them across from the Williamsburg Legion. Chairman Flaig presented some examples of signage and supervisors threw out names for suggestions for a sign. Flaig said she would solicit estimates for a sign.

Louis Brenneman resigned as auditor.

The plan for plowing during the winter was incorrectly presented at the October meeting. The township will not be responsible for plowing Yellow Springs, but will be plowing Fox Run Road.

The reorganizational meeting for Catharine Township will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 5 p.m.
