Nevin Sollenberger

Claysburg

Nevin Samuel Sollenberger, 81, of Claysburg passed away Tuesday Dec. 6, 2022, at home, following a lengthy battle with COPD.

He was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Oliver Park and Edith (Criswell) Sollenberger. On Nov. 23, 1967, he married Janet Diehl.

He is survived by his wife, two children Cynthia (Donald) Stiver and Scott (Dana) Sollenberger, four grandchildren Zachary and Westley Stiver and Haden and Madison Sollenberger and brothers-in-law Alfred Diehl and Donald Irvin. He was preceded in death by a sister Donna Irvin on February 16, 2022.

Nevin was a 1960 graduate of Williamsburg High School and joined the United States Navy following graduation. He was a master electrician and worked for Blair Electric Service Co. his entire career, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Claysburg American Legion and enjoyed woodworking.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg (www.lesliemillerfuneralhome.com). Pastor Tim Guyer officiated. Interment was at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 292, Claysburg, PA 16625.
