CK FBLA's Serving Seniors Deliver Thanksgiving Dinners

Due to the increased costs of food, heating oil, and medicine, Claysburg-Kimmel's Future Business Leaders of America Chapter has created a community service project for the 2022-2023 school year. "Serving Seniors" has been created by Emma Gill, Erica Norotsky, and Launa Musselman to help defray costs for senior citizens in the area.

During the month of October, Claysburg-Kimmel's students and staff participated in the Adopt-A-Senior event by donating food items. On Sunday, Nov. 20, CK FBLA members, parents, and community members delivered 50 Thanksgiving meals to local senior citizens in the Claysburg community and the surrounding areas. Included in the meals were corn, chicken stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, noodles, chicken gravy, fruit cocktail, chicken breast, and a homemade pumpkin pie.

With the support of the Claysburg community and local businesses, Serving Seniors has distributed a total of $2,000 in heating oil and $1,000 in gift cards for medicines. Future plans are to distribute more funds for heat and medicine, as well as distribute Christmas fruit baskets, shoveling senior citizens driveways, and more.

Several local businesses and organizations have partnered with "Serving Seniors" with generous donations. They include NPC, Inc., Claar's Notary, Troy Swindell Trucking, Women of The ELCA, Salvation Army, Thrivent, and Brenda Marriner.
