Virginia L. "Ginny" Moore

Virginia L. “Ginny” Moore, 92, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday evening, Nov. 19, 2022, at Embassy of Huntingdon Park.

She was born June 23, 1930, in Altoona, daughter of the late Joseph Ross and Maude (Crissman) Cooper. On Aug. 22, 1951, she married Frank L. Moore in Juniata Gap, Altoona. He preceded her in death Oct. 14, 2015, following 64 years of marriage.

She is survived by three sons: Kevin R. (Sara) Moore of Mars, Derin L. (Karole) Moore of Roaring Spring and Bruce A. (Lisa) Moore of Carlisle; five grandchildren: Laurin Gildea (Trey), Hannah, Megan, Julia and Ross Moore; and two great-grandchildren: William and Kooper Gildea.

She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Eleanor Cooper.

Ginny was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and also earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in teaching from the Pennsylvania State University. She retired in 1990 from the Spring Cove School District, where she taught home economics and other subjects, with a total of 38 years of service.

She was a member of Woodbury United Methodist Church and for many years was a faithful member of the former Martinsburg United Methodist Church. Ginny loved collecting antiques, being outdoors and spending time at their family’s farm in Perry County.

At the request of the deceased all services will be private. Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.

Memorial contributions in memory of Ginny may be given to Alzheimer’s Association, c/o act.alz.org.
