Local Fire Chiefs Urge Caution and Prevention When Heating

With winter weather here, local fire officials are urging people to take care when it comes to heating their homes. Randy Acker, chief of the Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Company, said regardless of what method you use to heat your home, they all come with a potential for danger if proper precautions are not taken.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) says that heating equipment is the second leading cause of home fires and the third leading cause of home fire deaths and is responsible for billions in property damage and losses.
