Deer Killed Illegally

Hunting season was off to a good start in the Cove, but state game officials feared a “tremendous” number of does and spike bucks were being killed illegally. Cases were under investigation and arrests were expected.
Families in the Martinsburg area were asked to submit lists of books that they wish to give to the new library. Mrs. Carlton Hoyt and Mrs. Martin Croft, directors of the local library, would review the lists and indicate which offered books are needed for the library.
The Martinsburg Rotary Club planned to present a stage adaptation of Dickens’ Christmas Carol. Every member of the club was taking part, including the wives and children of club members. The play was scheduled to take place at the Memorial Park Community Hall on December 22.
Kathryn B. Ake Sp(Y) 1/c who was serving in the WAVES, received her discharge and was home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer C. Ake of Martinsburg. Prior to entering the service she was a student at Penn State.
